AJ Digital has announced the appointment of Martin McDonald as its new Digital Information Manager, bringing on board more than two decades of hands-on industry experience to support the company’s growing focus on data-led delivery and digital construction services. His arrival comes at a time when the effective management of project information is critical to successful handover and long-term building performance - and his appointment marks a key step in AJ Digital’s continued commitment to technical excellence and innovation.
With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Martin brings a uniquely comprehensive skill set developed across a wide range of sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, science and technology, education, infrastructure and data centres.
Martin’s career has been marked by a logical and steady progression through nearly every phase of the project lifecycle. His career began delivering single-service MEP installation drawings, gaining hands-on experience across ventilation, pipework, public health and electrical systems. From there, he moved into multi-service coordination and eventually took on management roles leading teams through Stage 5 delivery. His wide-ranging industry exposure includes time spent in civil engineering, fire protection and security systems, offering him a holistic view of the entire construction process.
He has also worked for a range of consultants delivering MEP services from Stage 3 to Stage 4. Most recently, he has worked on behalf of a major contractor, overseeing the digital delivery of full construction projects and ensuring that both models and associated data were complete and compliant for final handover.
Martin’s passion for digital innovation and emerging technology has always been a driving force in his career. Over the years, he has cultivated a strong interest in data, automation and programming, which aligns perfectly with AJ Digital’s mission to improve outcomes for clients through smart information management.
As Digital Information Manager, Martin will be based at AJ Digital’s head office in Kent. His day-to-day responsibilities include preparing data validation reports for live projects, supporting the modelling and coordination team and acting as a technical lead on the company’s transition toward offering a growing range of online, client-accessible services.
He will also play a key role in reviewing and refining established processes to improve project outcomes and operational efficiency.
